Subject: original, personal, immediately recognizable as a product of this specific author.
Vision: well balanced, the red above and the blue below are aligned in the centre with the blood spot, which is in the middle of the frame, creating a line of winner-proof of winning-loser which leaves no doubt for the outcome of the battle. The characters create a cross with their bodies, the vertical line connecting the heads an the horizontal one of the hands and the wounded back, forming four panels: the fallen body and the leg that fill the ones on the bottom create weight that is countered by the wing and the light, so the effect is "loser falls, winner rises"; even the colours help, with red burning bright and living and blue associated with coldness of death.
Technique: fitted and applied with skill: the zone around the angel's face is focused because she must be the protagonist, while the siren's zone is more faded (like her life); the details are equally faded, giving consistency. The bodies are well sculpted, detailed and realistic, even for a fantasy theme. Elements like the armour, the halo and the flowers on the gown contribute to enrich the picture without overcharging it, a sign of skill and care that is expressed to his maximum with the flying feathers. Only bad note, even if a minor one, the fingers on the hand that holds the sword are less detailed compared to the rest.
Impact: immediately understandable and sending a "message", even if it's said to be a continuation of another picture, it can perfectly be a stand-alone stimulating imagination of the watcher.
